Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Nanshan Mt., Honghutu River, Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province. It was named by Tong Zhifang et al. in 1976, and formally cited in Regional Geology of Heilongjiang Province in 1989.


Lithology and Thickness

Volcaniclastics and Siltstone. Lower part is dominated by pyroclastic rock intercalated with slate. Upper part consists of gray-black clayey siltstone and slate intercalated with crystal tuff, 807 m thick. Maximum thickness reaching 1900 m.

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Honghutuhe Fm

Upper contact

Unknown: The top is unclear. Next younger regional unit is the Late Carboniferous Guangqing Fm
